What are CEU’s?
The Continuing Education Unit or CEU was created and defined in 1970 after IACET and the U.S. Department of Education task force studied the measurement of non-credit continuing education activities. The continuing education unit (CEU) was designed to:
- Provide a standard unit of measurement for continuing education and training,
- Quantify continuing education and training (CE/T) activities, and
- Accommodate for the diversity of providers, activities, and purposes in adult education.

Who Accepts IACET CEUs?
You can use the IACET CEUs to provide evidence of the contact time you spent during a learning event. If you seek to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs), keep in mind that 0.1 IACET CEU = 1 hour of learner contact time (for eligible events).
Many educational organizations and institutions that provide individual certifications in a wide range of disciplines recognize IACET CEUs.
For a current list of organizations who accept IACET CEUs, click here to visit the IACET website and search for the organization that issued, or will issue, your professional certification. For your specific needs, please confirm with the organization offering the certification that they will accept IACET CEUs as evidence of learning event contact time.
